The
area is best described in the book, Revelstoke History
and Heritage by Ruby Nobbs.
“Revelstoke, gem of the Columbia River, is situated
on the east bank of the Columbia River at the point
where that might river is joined by its tributary,
the Illecillewaet. To the east, the Illecillewaet
Valley and Rogers Pass cleave a route through the
Selkirk Range. Across the river to the west, Eagle
Pass leads through the Monashee Range to Shuswap
country. To the south, majestic, glacier- capped Mt.
Begbie stands guard over town, while on our northern
boundary is Mt. Revelstoke National Park. The
setting is one of unrivalled beauty.”
